RCSD Has a New School Alert System Called SchoolWay


Rankin County School District is pleased to be one of the first districts in the state to utilize SchoolWay– a FREE mobile app that facilitates effective communication between our district schools and parents, students and the greater community. It’s an advanced, app-based PUSH alert system that allows parents and students to sign up for district and school-specific messages and alerts. SCHOOLWAY (FORMERLY SCHOOL CONNECT) HAS REPLACED THE FORMER MESSAGING SYSTEM, Notify My School. If you use a basic cellphone without app capability, you can still use this system to receive text alerts along with email alerts (See Web App instructions below).

Download and install FREE SchoolWay for your smart phone:

(iPhone/iPad) Apple App Store
Or go to the App Store and search for “SchoolWay”

Or go to the Google Play Store and search for “SchoolWay” 
 
After installing the app, please take a second to register. Registration will allow the app to keep your school selection preferences in case of an app uninstall, app upgrade or an operating system upgrade. Log in and toggle “Save Login information” to the ON position. This will also allow you to use the same SchoolWay account from numerous devices such as a phone, tablet and computer.

ProTip: You can maximize the message viewing area by touching the "HIDE" button on the home screen.
Confguring your custom alerts with School Connect

» Easy Customization

  • Once you are logged in, select the roles that apply to you.
  • Select ‘Mississippi’. 
  • Select ‘Rankin County School District’.  
  • Select ‘Save’ button at the bottom.
  • "Rankin County School District" should be set to the ON position. *
  • Select the schools and notifications that apply to you as a parent or student.
  • Select ‘Save’ button at the bottom.
* Many important messages and ALL emergency alerts (weather, etc.) will come from the district. If you turn "Rankin County School District" to OFF, and only select a school or multiple schools, you will NOT receive these emergency alerts. If you only want to receive emergency notifications, turn ON "Emergency Notifications Only".

» How to Modify Push Notification Options

  • Touch the mobile menu icon at the top left.
  • Under “App Settings”, select “Settings” then “Manage Notifications”.
  • Under the “PUSH” tab, you can turn ON or OFF receiving notifications from the specific schools listed.
Select alternate Email and SMS/Text options

» How to Add Email and Texting as Other Notification Methods

  • Touch the mobile menu icon at the top left.
  • Under “App Settings”, select “Settings” then “Manage Notifications”.
  • Under the tabs “Email” and “SMS/Text”, you can add multiple recipient cell phone numbers and additional recipient email addresses that you may want to include. Please do not enter any cell numbers or email addresses other than your own without permission from that individual. 
Note that basic texting charges may apply depending on your cellular carrier and service plan.

» How to Register and Configure Using the Web App

School Connect login screen If you use a cell phone that has basic text messaging features, without the capability to install apps, you can still receive alerts via text messages to your cell phone, as well as emails. You can do so by using the online SchoolWay web app. Here’s how:

  • Click the icon above OR visit www.schoolconnectservices.com and click on the WEB APP icon in the far right of the top menu bar.
  • Register and select your role as a Parent or Student. Click “Register”.
  • Check your email account for verification and follow the instructions in your email to continue. Note: If you don’t receive an email, please check your “Junk” or “Spam” folder.
  • Configure your school alert options. Click SAVE at the bottom.
  • To add your cell number to receive text messages, click the top mobile menu icon. Click “Settings”. Click “SMS/Email Notifications”.  In this area, you will be able to enter multiple recipient cell phone numbers and additional recipient email addresses that you may want to include. Please do not enter any cell numbers or email addresses other than your own without permission from that individual.
