Mrs. Diane Jacobsen

"Love is Spoken Here . . ."

Welcome to the wonderful world of first grade! I think this is the most important grade in your child's school career. It is not just a year where your child will learn reading, writing and arithmetic--your child will learn these 3 R's:

First Grade is also a time to acquire additional social skills. As a mother and grandmother, I am well aware of your desire for the best possible education your child can receive. As a teacher, I will strive to do just that. I count on parental involvement because YOU are actually the first "teacher" your child becomes acquainted with. First Grade is a year-long partnership between home and school and I never get tired of telling you that!

Your children are all like potential "gardens" to me. We work together to tend these "gardens" and the end result is a harvest of fulfillment and joy. Here’s to a “bumper crop” of blessings as we begin our year long partnership. First grade is a special year and a grow-up year . . . and the “magic” of this year lasts a lifetime.

Love to You,

Mrs. Jacobsen

This was a poem written when I student-taught (many "moons" ago). I have never forgotten it and all the truth there is in its' simple format:

Imagine

Imagine -- just imagine!

Twenty-four homes opened their doors

And sent to me their finest treasures.

Forty-eight persons' best efforts

Wrapped in three foot packages.

Twenty-four futures--

Just imagine!
