What's This Class All About?????
Welcome to 8th grade History!!!! I expect this to be a fun and educational year. I think in order for this year to run smoothly it is important to understand how it is run and what the expectations are. Most of our lessons will be covered in power point presentation with guided notes. It is important to hold on to these notes as your tests will come directly from these as well as any others sheets I provide.
Each day you will have a journal when you enter the room. You are to sharpen your pencil when entering the room and start on these immediately. Once we have completed 10 journals these will be turned in for a grade. Often this bellwork may be reading and a short reflection is required.
If you miss an assignment you will be able to see what it was by looking on the board where all assignments for the week will be posted.
To succeed this year the number one thing for success is ORGANIZATION!!!!!!! I also request that you come to school with needed supplies. You must bring your workbook and novel to class daily as well as a writing instrument and paper.
PROJECTS AND BOOKS AND HOMEWORK ....OH MY
This Year you will have one MAJOR project each nine weeks. You will be informed on these as dates are determined. We will also be covering three trade books this year. The History department will be providing these books. However, if you have a slow reader or a student that wants to read at their own pace these books may be purchased or checked out from the local library.
HOMEWORK.. I realize that homework can encompass a family and not just the student. Therefore homework will be minimal. However, that being said when it is assigned it must be done. If not turned in when due the student will receive 10% off per day, not class period., that it is late as well as ASD.
