A Note From the Principal
Tardy Policy

Let me introduce myself. My name is Cindy Ponder and I am the new principal here at Brandon Elementary School. I have been in education for 21 years. The past 13 years of my career have been spent as principal of Florence Elementary/Steen's Creek Elementary. I have been a resident of Brandon for 15 years. My husband is Rusty Ponder of Brandon and I have 3 children going through Brandon Schools. I am very excited about the opportunity to "come home" to Brandon and work with the children that my family and I share a community with. My goal is to continue to work toward making Brandon Elementary School the best that it can be for all students. Please let me know if I can be of any service to you.

Beginning Monday August 17,we will begin implementing our tardy policy. If you arrive at school after the tardy bell at 7:30 a.m., your child is tardy and must be escorted into the building and signed in by a parent .Excused tardies are those that have a doctor's excuse. All others will be reported as unexcused and will be responded to in accordance with RCSD Board Policy, which could result in suspension from school (after 3 unexcused tardies). Another option is to allow your child to ride the bus. If for some reason the bus is late, those students do not receive a tardy. Remember no checkouts after 1:30 p.m. This is RCSD policy. Thank you so much for your cooperation. All rules are for the safety of every student at Brandon Elementary.
 

Parents Remember....

You may access  student absence excuse forms online on our parent resource page. Please provide the following information on the form.

  • date excuse is written
  • date(s) of absence
  • first and last name of student
  • reason for absence
  • signature of parent, guardian, or doctor

*This information is due the day that your child come back to school.

**All trips must be pre-approved by the principal in order to be excused.

***Faxes and e-mail excuses are no longer accepted. Only a doctor's excuse will be accepted by fax.
