Teachers are reminded that all grades for 3rd Nine Weeks need to be entered by Friday, March 12th. Remember--your Benchmark counts as one of your summative assessments for the 9 weeks. It counts as a part of the 60% summative average.

The 9th Grade Baseball games scheduled for this evening at Warren Central have been postponed due to wet grounds.

The Brandon Lady Bulldog Fast Pitch Softball Team plays Northwest Rankin this evening at Northwest. JV game starts at 5:0 pm followed by the Varsity game. Please support our Lady Softball Bulldogs.

The Brandon Bulldog Tennis Team plays Madison St. Joseph this afternoon at Madison. Match time is 3:0 pm. Please support our Tennis Bulldogs.

Junior Prom Breakfast t-shirts are on sale during lunch through Friday. The price is $12.

The PROM COMMITTEE will meet Tuesday morning, March 23 at 7:40 in Mrs. Williams’ room (227). This meeting is mandatory for all committee members.

ENGLISH II teachers are reminded to turn in their STUDENT signed Electronic Device forms to the Guidance Office as soon as they are completed but no later than Tuesday, March 23.

SENIORS can pick up their Prom gifts on Wednesday, March 24 either before school or during 4th Block in Mrs. Williams’ room. These are the only times you can pick up your gift.

Graduation Invitations and Senior Supplies will be delivered on Tuesday, March 30th during lunch. Please bring your balance due on this day. Balances due must be paid off in order to receive your cap and gown.

If you are interested in taking photographs, selling ads, writing, or designing, pick up an application for the BHS Newspaper Staff TODAY!  Forms are available in the office or outside of room 230. Please turn in your completed application to Mrs. T Martin’s room by Friday, March 26th.

The Brandon Debate Team is having a raffle for $150 in restaurant cards. Tickets are $1. The proceeds will go towards expenses for six students going to the National Tournament in Omaha, NE. The Debate Team is also selling Mazzio’s Cards for $5 which have up to $100 in savings. Please support our Debate Team.

Students who applied to the Vo-Tech nursing program at the Hinds need to attend an informational meeting on Monday, March 22 at 6:00 pm in room 103 at the Pearl Rankin Vo-Tech center. This meeting is mandatory.

Students taking the English II Writing Test on March 24 will need to bring a #2 pencil to testing.

JUNIORS & SENIORS—A Recruiter from the Jackson State University School of Engineering will be here on March 25th. If you want to visit with the recruiter, sign up with Mrs. Pitts in the Career Center.

Join FCCLA and the American Lung Association in the Fight for Air Climb and win a Carnival Cruise for two from McGehee Cruise and Vacation to Cozumel, Mexico. Tickets are $10 each or 5 for $40. All proceeds will help in finding a cure for lung cancer. Tickets available in Mrs. Williams room (227). The drawing will be held March 31st.

Brandon High School is collecting receipts from Ramey's Food Store in Brandon to receive money for our school. Please bring all your receipts to your 1st Block teachers and Mrs. Pitts will come by and collect them.

Any Girl interested in signing up for the Miss Brandon Day Beauty Pageant can pick up a form in the offices. The deadline to enter is April 16th.

Hinds CC will be hosting Preview Night on March 30 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at the Raymond Campus.

SENIORS are reminded that your Graduation fee of fifty dollars will be due around May 1st. Seniors and Senior parents need to be planning now for this expense. This fee is for rental of the auditorium, diplomas, covers, etc.

Channel 16 WAPT is sponsoring the "Hometown Hero" Scholarship program. Each month they will award a $1,000 scholarship to young people who give back to their community. You must be nominated. Please go to www.wapt.com to nominate a student.

SENIORS---If you register on the ESF web page http://www.esfweb.com/Freebies.html you can be entered for a random scholarship drawing done by ESF.

SENIORS---Visit the web site www.mississippi.edu/financialaid to find out about the following scholarships:  Nissan Scholarship, HELP Scholarship, MESG (29 and above ACT and 3.5 GPA) MTAG (15 - 28 ACT and 2.5 GPA), Summer Developmental Programs at IHL schools.

SENIORS---The Central MS Ole Miss Alumni Club is offering 18 scholarships for $1,000 to students who have between a 21 - 28 on the ACT and a "B" average. The deadline is March 12. Applications are available on the bookcase outside the Guidance Office.

The KOHL'S KIDS WHO CARE scholarship nominations are available online February 1 thru March 15 at www.kohlskids.com. The deadline is March 15. This is for young volunteers who have helped make their community a better place.

The American Association of Blacks in Energy is offering $2,000 and $1,000 scholarships to a minority student who has a B or better average and is majoring in Engineering, Math, a physical science field or computer technology. The deadline to apply is March 19. See your counselor for an application.

SENIORS---LSU will be hosting tours on Saturday, March 20 for prospective students. Programs begin at 10:30 am.

SENIORS who plan to attend Hinds Community College Rankin Campus in the fall should apply for the Rankin County Chamber of Commerce scholarship. ONE Senior from Brandon High School is guaranteed to win the scholarship--you just have to apply. The deadline to apply is March 23. Applications are available on the Guidance Office bookcase.

The Jackson Heart Study education and training program at Tougaloo College is being offered to motivated 9th, 10th and 11th graders. If you are interested in pursuing a career in a health related profession, you can pick up an application for this program in the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is March 25.

SENIORS---The Junior Auxiliary of Rankin County is offering two $1,500 scholarships and twelve $1,000 scholarships to Seniors from Rankin County high schools. Applicants will be considered on the following criteria:  academic achievements, community activities, school activities, need of financial assistance. The deadline is March 26. Applications are available on the bookcase outside the Guidance Office.

SENIORS who have lost a parent to cancer or some other unforeseen tragic event may apply for the Tammy Lass scholarship for $1,000 thru the Junior Auxiliary of Rankin County. The deadline is March 26. Applications are available on the Guidance Office bookcase.

US Congressman Gregg Harper is sponsoring Military Academy Day on Saturday, March 27th from 9:00 am to 12 noon at Madison Central High School. Representatives from West Point, the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy will be present to answer questions. SENIORS---The Crossgates Exchange Club scholarship application is now available in the guidance office. The deadline is March 29. You must take a citizenship test when you turn in your materials at 7:40 AM in the BHS Career Center. The test is not an option. Please be prepared to take it at 7:40 am on March 24 when you turn in your materials.

SENIORS---The Robert C. Byrd Scholarship is now available on line at the following site: 
http://www.mde.k12.ms.us/scholarship/scholdev.html or you can get one in the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is March 31. The scholarship program will award 65 to 70 scholarships worth $1,500 each. The scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study at any post-secondary institution of higher education in the United States excluding a military academy.

SENIORS---The MS Academy of Family Physicians is offering a scholarship to students interested in pursuing a career in medicine. The deadline is March 31. See your counselor for an application or visit www.msafp.org/scholarship.

Minority students who wish to participate in the summer bridge program at the University of Mississippi June 26 - July 29 should see their counselor for an application. The deadline is March 31.

SENIORS---One Senior from our school will be awarded the Foundation for Rankin County Public Schools CLASS Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. You must have a 3. 0 GPA or better and participate in one or more high school activity and /or work part time while attending high school. Applications are available on the bookcase outside the Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is April 1.

SENIORS- Alpha Delta Kappa, Xi chapter is offering 2 scholarships to Seniors majoring in education. The deadline is April 3rd. Applications are available on the bookcase of the Guidance Office.

Spring Visit Day at Ole Miss will be held on April 10 for potential students.

SENIORS---The Rankin County Kiwanis Club awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors in Rankin County. Scholarships are typically for $500-700 and the number of awards depends on available funds. See your counselor or look on the bookcase outside the guidance office for a copy of the application. The deadline to apply is April 15.

The 2010 Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Award is being offered to Juniors who have performed leadership and service activities after September 1, 2008. Top winners receive a $500 scholarship. The deadline is April 26th.

SENIORS---The Mississippi Municipal League is offering a $2,000 scholarship to any high school Senior who plans to attend a college in Mississippi next year. A second $2,000 scholarship is being offered to children or grandchildren of Mississippi municipal officials and city employees who plan to attend college in MS. Also, they are offering a third scholarship for $2,000 to children or grandchildren of elected officials and employees of Mississippi municipalities who are members of the MMSC Liability Plan or the workers compensation group. The deadline is Friday, April 30.

Students planning to attend professional building and construction trade schools can apply for the Home Depot Trade Scholarship program at http://corporate.homedepot.com/wps/portal/proscholarship. The deadline to apply is April 30th.

SENIOR females on the Tennis Team---The Jackson Ladies Tennis Association will award a 4-year scholarship totaling $3,000. The application can be found on the JLTA's webpage- www.jlta.org. Applications are due by April 30.

SENIORS---If you are a member of Magnolia Credit Union, you may apply for their David Bergstrom Memorial Scholarship. They will give two $1,000 scholarships. You may apply for the credit union when you apply for the scholarship if you are not already a member. Applications are due May 31st and are available on the bookcase in the Guidance Office.

Sophomores or Juniors who have a 25 on the ACT who are interested in attending Summer College at Ole Miss should see your counselor for an application.
