Today, one of our kindergarten teachers, Kaye Sowell, aided in a great effort and
raised over $350.00 for the Leonard E. Warren Melanoma Foundation.Sowell, much
to her surprise, was in the wonderful care of our sheriff’s department for approximately
ten minutes until her friends and co-workers raised the funds for her release. Sowell, a 28
year veteran, lost a co-worker very dear to her to melanoma years ago and this was one
reason we chose to donate the funds to this worthy cause.
The Leonard E. Warren Melanoma Foundation was established in memory of Warren,
father-in-law of Rouse Elementary counselor, Yvonne Warren, by her husband Keith.
In April, the foundation will sponsor the Seventh Annual 5k Run/Walk, Run From the
Sun, in downtown Jackson. Yvonne Warren has been instrumental in establishing a
running club at Rouse and many will participate in the event. If you would like more
