The Club started in December 2009 and had many accomplishments in just six months. NWRMS Green Club won 1st Place in the WLBT "Going Green Mississippi" contest. The club is open to any student in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade.
OUR MISSION
Recycle Paper
Please put paper in the paper box that was supplied by the Green club for that purpose, and put regular trash in the trash can.
Recycle Aluminum and Plastic Drink Bottles
A bin for these items will be placed in 6th Grade Teachers' Lounge
Conserve Electricity
Turn on only one light switch in your room and turn off lights as you leave the room.
Solar Energy
Our school is a test sight for solar energy. We are generating our own electricity.
Beautify Our School Surroundings and Nature Trail
We have placed planters at many entrances and filled them with flowers. We planted 100 Oak trees along the entrance to the school. We will improve and maintain our nature trail.
Encourage Everyone to Recycle at Home
Recycling bins are located at the Reservoir Library for newspaper, aluminum, and 2-liter and milk jug type plastic.) There is also pick-up service in the area for a small fee.
Help Educate the Community and Other Students About Conservation Issues
The Cougar Green Club sponsored a booth at the Waterfest '09 at Lakeshore Park. Our booth was "Fish-in for Litter."
Our projects would not have been possible without the tremendous help, support, and generosity of our parents, sponsors and our local businesses. We hope you will encourage your students to join the club.
