Career Exploration and Planning

Northwest Rankin High School uses electronic portfolios. Electronic portfolios may be accessed from any personal computer. The students are given the Site ID and password and select a personal password and portfolio name of their own. Each grade works on their portfolio for 45 minutes in the NWR Career Center and then continues the assignment as homework. The students are given ample time to complete the activity, and a grade is taken on selected assignments. Eleventh and twelfth graders receive a grade in English. Tenth graders receive a grade through World History, and ninth graders receive a grade through STEM.

One of the many activities coordinated through the Career Center is the Business in the Classroom. Faculty members invite professionals to discuss their job and responsibilities to students during two different class periods. Sessions are informative and students as exposed to the expectations of the workplace. Please select the link to view pictures from the Business in the Classroom. .
