Based on new evaluation criteria established by the Mississippi State Department of Education, Northwest Rankin High School is one of 11 schools across the state to be designated a "STAR" school -- the highest rating available.  

The National High Schools That Work network has named Northwest Rankin High School as a Pacesetter School for 2007-2010. The Pacesetter Award was established in 2007 and is the highest award given by the Southern Regional Education Board.

As part of the Rankin County School District, Northwest Rankin High School is located in Flowood, Mississippi on Hwy 25 (Lakeland Drive) just a couple of miles east of the Castlewoods Blvd/Grants Ferry intersection.
