Students Explore Artists of France and Spain
by Delwin Wallace
This past summer, I was fortunate to take a group of NWRHS students on the “Artists of France and Spain” tour. I do this every other summer and this is the second time I was able to do this trip. I will be taking a group to New York this Spring break for the Broadway and the Arts tour.
We visited Paris, Provence, Avignon, Arles, Barcelona, and Madrid. Our Highlights included the Louvre, Musee D’Orsay, The Rodin museum, Eiffel Tower, Montparnasse, Monet’s Gardens at Giverney and Notre Dame (2 months after fire) in Paris. While in the Provence region in south France, we visited the Pont du Gard, Paul Cezanne’s house and studio as well as the cafe Van Gogh painted in the Cafe Terrace at Night. We then traveled over to Barcelona for the Picasso museum and the Dali museum. We saw great architecture in Antonio Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. We finished in Madrid with The Reina Sofia to see Picasso’s Guernica, and the Prado Museum.
