*This is my 14th year as an English teacher at BHS.
*I am a life-long learner! I have earned a master's degree from Belhaven University, a bachelor's degree from Southern Miss, gifted education hours from Millsaps College, and 27 graduate-level English hours.
*I have certifications/endorsements as follows: English, Advanced Placement Language and Composition, Advanced Placement Literature, Gifted Education, and Social Studies.
*I was awarded Brandon High School Teacher of the Year for 2016-2017; previously, I was awarded Rankin County School District New Teacher of the Year for 2005-2006.
*I am a National Board Certified Teacher with certification in Adolescent and Young Adult English Language Arts.
*I sponsor the BHS Mock Trial Team.
*This year I will be teaching Dual Credit American Literature I and II / Dual Credit Composition I and II through Hinds Community College.
*I have been blessed with a terrific family! Mark and I have been married for 29 years, and our son Chase, a recent graduate of BHS, is a student at Ole Miss.
*As you might guess, I am an avid reader and writer, plus I have become my name--I enjoy baking for my family & friends.
Message to my students: You are smart enough to do pretty much whatever you set your mind to doing, so set your mind to building on your communication skills. Truly, learning to communicate appropriately - through writing, reading, speaking, and listening - will set you up for SWEET SUCCESS!
