Mr. Zach Roberts

Welcome back!

I am looking forward to this year at Brandon High School. This is my third year at BHS and my ninth overall (including four at Brandon Middle and two in Jackson Public Schools). I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in English and specialization in English licensure and Belhaven University with my Masters of Education focused in Curriculum and Instruction. My wife and I are proud to call Rankin County our home for the past eight years along with our two daughters who attend Brandon zone schools.
As a Pre-AP English II teacher, my stated job is to prepare students for the graduation requirement test at the end of the school year and the college level courses available to students in their junior and senior years. However, I believe what I do also encompasses the growth and development of my students as human beings and members of society. Because of this, I hold high expectations for every student who enters my room, as a person and a student. My experience in the Brandon zone schools has shown me that every single student has the capablity to both meet and exceed these expectations.
Keeing up with your student's progress/Contacting me:
Because of RCSD's 1:1 student MacBook initiative, the best place to get information about assignments, homework, resources, and announcements is through my Canvas course. Messaging through Canvas is the best way to reach me because check my it numerous times throughout the day. Monday through Friday, you can expect to hear back from me within 24 hours. I do prioritize my family over my work, so I may or may not get messages sent over the weekend until Monday. You can also call the school if you wish to speak with me directly. I always check the office for messages during my planning block and will return your call no later than the next school day.
